Guilty
"I stand on trial because of my hope in the resurrection of the dead." Acts 23:6
"It is concerning the resurrection of the dead that I am on trial before you today." Acts 24:21
"It admit that I worship the God of our fathers as a follower of the Way." Acts 24:14
"I have done nothing wrong against the law of the Jews or against the temple or against Ceasar." Acts 25:8
Paul is on trial. The lawyer Tertullus brings up charges against Paul including trouble making, riot causing, desecrating the temple and so on. When it's Paul's turn to defend himself, he says he is guilty of one thing and that is being a follower of the Way. No other charge would stick.
The Newsboys' song "Guilty" is playing in my head right now. I find myself as the accuser. Pointing fault, looking at the plank of another, joining forces as an accuser. Which, if I was the accused, the list would be oh so long. Would all of my yuck outweigh the fact and evidence that I am a follower of the Way? Would I be found guilty as a follower of the Way? Could a good cause be made against me, that I am a Christian? Sometimes, I beat myself up, because I have not lived a perfect life. I am the hypocrite, I mess up. I open my mouth and very unchristian things fly out. I slip and fall. I have the temper, the attitude, the jealousy, and the mess. There is only one that has lived the perfect Christian life, and that is Christ himself. He wants to live, work, shine and reflect his name through me. The only way I could be convicted of having Christ in me, is to allow Christ in me! Take all
of me Jesus!
Father, Thank you! Thank you that I do not have to be perfect, because the harder I try the more I mess up. Forgive me. Forgive me for trying so hard, when all I have to do is move over and let the Perfector take over. I want to be your disciple. I want everyone to see you! Help me to get off the center stage of my life, help me to drop the mic, so that you can replace the center stage. Take my Life. Father, I am yours. All of me. Take my life Lord, all for you.
"It is God who works in you both to will and to do His good pleasure." Philippians 2:13
