So  that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord!  -Philippians 2:10
When the people of Ashdod rose early the next day, there was Dagon, fallen on his face on the ground before the ark of the Lord! They took Dagon and put him back in his place. But the following morning when they rose, there was Dagon, fallen on his face on the ground before the ark of the Lord. His head and hands had been broken off and were lying in the threshold. -1 Samuel 5:3-4

The Philistines had stolen the Ark of the Covenant. Whether they considered the ark a trophy or another God to worship, they placed the ark near one of their pagan gods. The next morning they found their pagan God face down before the ark of the Lord.  Again, the next morning they found Dagon face down, this time with his head and hands broken off. In those days, during battle, the victor would often cut the enemies' heads and hands off. The Philistines quickly learned that the God of Israel could not be contained! The God, Maker of heaven and earth, Redeemer, Savior, King of Kings, and Lord of Lords, will not share his glory! We must approach God as the sovereign Lord of all. So often, we too minimize who He is.

This morning, I approach God in awe. Forgive me father, for minimizing who you are. Help me to recognize what I have placed above you. Help me to surrender all. I bow before You, as your servant, ALL glory and honor are yours now and forever!

So that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord! -Philippians 2:10

Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable. -Isaiah 40:28
