Praising the Shepherd

The Lord is my Shepherd, I have everything I need. -Psalm 23:1

The Lord is my Shepherd. As shepherd, he tends to his flock. When one sheep is lost, he leaves the entire flock, for that one lost sheep. Today, I'm thinking about a particular lost sheep. My human self judges, thinks, and says, "Really? Is she worth it? She's made the choice! She chose her road, her path! She's hurt so many, and continues to cause pain!

Then, the strangest thing happened...I'm reminded of the Shepherd finding me, the lost sheep, found in my own destruction,  in my intentional decisions. Found, where others would leave me to die. For that's what I deserved. But my amazing Savior and Shepherd, gave me grace. He placed his yoke, and his arms around me, guiding me, leading and loving me back to Him.

We too are to follow his lead, his direction, and his example. Is there someone that has been divinely placed in your path or on your heart? A lost sheep, a sheep that is waiting, rebelling, lost in their own destruction?  Is there a sheep he is calling you to love and pursue? Pursing that sheep does not guarantee that they will be saved, for we are not the Holy Spirit. Pursuing that sheep may have you leaving your comfort zone aside. This may be a growing change in your own heart, increasing your trust, as you embrace grace. Think about that sheep that God may be calling you to shepherd. Who is it? How is he calling you to pursue that sheep?
This truly smacked me upside the head this morning. I pray that I can surrender in obedience and I pray that God has placed certain sheep on your heart too, and that you too may answer the call of trust and obedience. I pray also for the lost sheep, that their eyes and hearts may be open to the Lord as their Savior and Shepherd, for he is all they need
