God is Greater than Our Ups and Downs
O Lord, hear my plea for justice. Listen to my cry for help. Pay attention to my prayer for it comes from an honest heart. Psalm 17:1
Tomorrow it will be two weeks that we have been reading and sharing verses from the book of Psalms. Initially, when we decided on Psalms, I thought, "Oh cool! This will be great to praise and worship who He is!" And I can definitely say that this has proven true. I did not realize that I would also be taking a closer look at who I am in Him. David wrote about half of the Psalms, and while I expected to see and read songs of worship and praise, the chapters and verses have included so much more. David could be found crying out to God for help and singing praises and worshipping his name. His Psalms seems to be a roller coaster of words, emotions, and prayers. Prayers being the most important. No matter the circumstance, the emotion, the situation...in all circumstances, he could be found calling on the Savior, Creator, and Rescuer.
These past two weeks have been an incredible amount of highs and lows for my family. It started two weeks ago. We decided it was time to take a huge step in faith and list our home for sale. We decided it was time to leave our big home and big mortgage for a smaller home with no mortgage. And we knew now was the time. This had been something that we had looked at in prayer for a long time. And we knew without a doubt that God had called us to a time such as this, now. So we did it. We listed our home on a real estate website, not expecting to accept a full offer less than 24 hours later. God brought the family that he had chosen for our home. Wow! And not only this, we found a small home that we will fix up and make it our own, new/used, mortgage free home!
While this was still sinking in, doubts and fear also found its way in...leaving me doubting and afraid one minute, and jumping up and down in worship the next. Before I could even make sense of my feelings and emotions, we were thrown for yet another loop. My husband found me at work to let me know that he had just fainted...while driving. Praise the Lord, not a hair on his head was harmed. There was no car accident, no one else hurt or involved. My amazing Savior's hand of protection had protected my husband from harm! Thank you Jesus for your beautiful protection. However, this still didn't provide answers or peace that it wouldn't happen again. We immediately made the trip to the emergency room, where we spent one night, with countless pokes, tests, and zero answers. We left the hospital, with unanswered questions, and a follow up appointment the next day. That brings us to yesterday...
Yesterday, we saw a specialist that has decided my husband needs to be monitored and watched every minute of every day, with a surgically implanted heart monitor. This also means that my husband cannot drive...and we are not sure for how long. This comes as yet another loop in life. We are not sure what tomorrow holds, but we know who holds tomorrow. While the doctors have decided it's necessary to watch my honey 24/7, I am reminded that there is already someone that is watching him 24/7. My savior and king has my husband in the palm of his hands. He is a heart doctor and monitor. He knows our every heart beat, our every thought, our every ache, pain, joy, high, and low. While our life is like a roller coaster, with highs, lows, laughter, pain, excitement, and the very scary moments...we have one constant that is the same yesterday, today, and for eternity. We have one Savior through it all.
We do not have to smile and pretend we are OK, or doubt or fear or find joy anywhere else! He is all we need in each loop, each turn, each high, and each low! And it is He where my hope, joy, and strength are found! It is His presence that my eyes will be fixed on! These two weeks have been so overwhelming that my head is still spinning, trying to grasp all that has gone on. But I will cling to that mustard seed! I will cling to my redeemer!
Oh! I almost forgot to mention! My youngest son received a call yesterday in the midst of everything, for an interview with Ann Kirkpatrick, in hopes of receiving a recommendation into the Air Force Academy! Praise Jesus! Wow! Father, thank you for this huge blessing! And thank you for the opportunity for Quincy to interview! Thank you for the plans that you have for Quincy and for all of my boys, plans that you will carry out unto completion! Thank you for the plans that you have for my hubby, and for me! Thank you for the plans that you have for whomever may be reading this! For no matter the roller coaster, you've got this! Thank you for your incredible plans, for your presence, for your grace, and your love.
